Giana Viscardi, in São Paulo geboren, zählt zu den beeindruckendsten Frauenstimmen Brasiliens. Nach 4 Jahren USA kehrte sie 2003 in ihre Heimat zurück, deren musikalische Traditionen sie seitdem erforscht und in einen gegenwärtigen Kontext bringt. Den perfekten Partner hat sie im „ausgewanderten“, österreichischen Gitarristen Michael Ruzitschka gefunden. Gemeinsam komponieren sie den Großteil der Songs, die einen reichen stilistischen Background verheißen: Bossa Nova, afrobrasilianische Rhythmen, Sambas und portugiesischer Fado, brasilianische Lebensfreude und Sinnlichkeit pur!

The Bavarian Jazz Weekend in Regensburg can not be compared with the international Jazz Week in Burghausen, the Jazzfestival Zoppot (Poland) or the Mountreaux Jazz Festival. It all started with 18 Jazz formations performing free concerts for guests and locals of the city on two days in the summer and was initialy meant bring liveliness to the historic old city. However, it has turned into a small phenomenon today, and the reason for this are not that easy to explain. Why do highly celebrated musicians and famous Jazz formations still want to participate in this event and join into a city music jam each year allthough they do not receive more than an measly expense coverage of 80 Euros as remuneration? What sort of people would interrupt their tours only to get the chance to perform on a fully packed and steaming hot Regensburg Plaza in the middle of the summer?

4321 released on WA Records

The album “4321“ is being released by the Brazilian record label “WA Records“ with distribuition all over Brazil by by the reknown distributor “Unimar“. The great news is that soon “4321“ will also be available in various countries all over the world.
The cover of the CD was redesigned and two bonus tracks were added: the song “Colorida“ with Spanish lyrics plus a more accoustic remix as well as an eletronic remix of “4321“ by DJ Quincas Moreira from São Paulo, Brazil.

Re-release show of the CD “4321“ in Sao Paulo (November 2007)

The new release show of “4321“ happened at a charming club in Sao Paulo called “Tom Jazz“. Although opened recently, the club has gained a reputation of presenting music of high quality the last years.
Giana´s band consisted of her partner and music director, guitarist Michael Ruzitschka, Tiago Costa on piano, Márcio Arantes on bass and Sergio Machado on drums.
The repertory was a mix of songs of the album “4321“ together with brand new songs which will be recorded on their new CD (planned for next year) and also new versions of “Michelle“ by the Beatles and “Taí“- a song that brought stardome to the legendary singer Carmen Miranda in the twenties of the last century.
The night was memorable, the house was packed with friends and great artists that came to pay their respect to Giana’s work.
