Giana, Michael and the German piano player Christian Gall played on board of the German cruiseship MS Albatros. Leaving from Valparaíso in Chile, they went down the pacific alongside the coast until Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Ushuaia – the southernmost city of the world! After this the ship crossed the dreaded Kap Hoorn entering the Atlantic ocean, with more stopovers in Montevideo and Buenos Aires and finally reached Rio de Janeiro on the evening before carneval.
Despite the fame the sea pretty calm and the concerts were well received by the for the most part German audience.
Said Michael: “The German people really like Brazilian Music and I imagine that the doors for Brazilian art will be wide open in the year of 2006, which is the year of Brazil in Germany.”
