For the recording of the TV show Bem Brasil Michael and I decided to put together a repertory which would be pretty similar to the one we played at the CD release party of “4321” in São Paulo a couple of months ago.
Bem Brasil is a really traditional TV show watched by millions all over Brazil, so this was serious stuff and a big responsibility!
We played some of our originals, like “4321”, “Nome do Homem”, “Colorida” and “Tinge” from my first CD. For this song we came up with a new, more acoustic arrangement, fitting perfectly to the 7-string guitar of our old friend Marcelo Cabral, who performed together with us.
After that I sang two of my favourite songs, “Cantando no Toró” by Chico Buarque, a little slower and more bluesy as his original (and great!!) recording as well as “Fotografia” by our musical “father” Tom Jobim with an arrangement that was totally inspired by the lyrics. For me they describe two moments within the song: one of disharmony during sunset and the other of a beautiful encounter when the moon rises.
Márcio Arantes and Sérgio Machado (bass and drums) are a really groovy rhythm section. Since we met them in 2003 we played already a long tour in Europe together plus they are of course on the new CD “4321”. One more time they showed their exceptional modern interpretation of Brazilian grooves at the Bem Brasil which I adore. Another special appearance was Tiago Costa – Maria Rita´s “official” musical director - who joined us on piano that night. His elegance and subtlety, his great musical variety together with a strong stage presence complemented the band perfectly. Michael was great as usual and was very satisfied with the musical outcome. I myself was pretty calm and very, very happy singing the first time im my life on a stage with tribunes on both sides!
MC Wandi Doratiotto was sympathic, funny and able the make everybody feel really comfortable.
I really would like to thank him, the TV Cultura, Donna Doida, who supported me with a beautiful, beautiful dress and finally L´Officiel for taking care of my curls… .
